Trio Ondine won the Parkhouse Award in the 2001 competition, where they performed Beethoven’s ‘Ghost’ Piano Trio, Op. 70 No. 1,

Trio Ondine was selected as a member of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists scheme in the summer of 2004. The two-year scheme involves trio recordings for BBC Radio 3, recordings as soloists with BBC orchestras throughout the UK, recital engagements, including performances at London’s Wigmore Hall, Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and the Proms and a debut recording with EMI.

Trio Ondine was formed in Copenhagen in 1999. The musicians have studied with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne and Ralf Gothoni in Helsinki. Within a few months of its formation the Trio had won its first competition, the Broadwood Piano Trio Competition in Manchester. This success was followed by victories in the Danish Radio Chamber Music Competition in 2000, where the trio also received the prize for the best contemporary music performance. In 2001, the Trio won the Parkhouse Award in London and the Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna. In 2002 they won 2nd Prize and the audience prize in the ARD Competition in Munich and in 2003 2nd Prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and the audience prize.

The Trio has toured in Europe and made radio recordings in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia, Estonia and England. The musicians have performed several times as soloists in Beethoven’s triple concerto. Their performance with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra was transmitted as an EBU production to most of Europe, the USA, Australia and Hong Kong.

In the 2005/06 season, the trio is “Artist in Residence” at the Theater Duisburg. The 2004/05 season brought the Trio to Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Bavaria and many festivals in Great Britain, including the Nottingham Festival and the BBC Proms.

Since September 2003 the trio has taught chamber music at the Royal Danish Music Academy in Copenhagen.

The Trio Ondine has recorded the piano trios of Ludwig von Beethoven for Bayrischer Rundfunk and in February 2005 the Trio released a CD, in cooperation with Danish Radio, of contemporary Danish music, with works by Nørgaard, Nordentoft, Holmboe und Carl Nielsen.
